    media player

I'm trying to play live TV (Setanta) on Windows 7. The system check gives report as follows:

Required version of Windows Media Player is not installed Your current version of Windows Media Player is 6.3 .
To install the most resent version of player visit Microsoft site .

When i visit the microsoft site i'm getting:

There is no download available for this operating system

    Any thoughts?

    Hi there,

Hmm... are you sure you're using Windows 7? I'm pretty sure Windows Media Player 6.3 came out in like 1997. Please check your operating system again, and use this chart to figure out what version of WMP you need: Versions of Windows Media Player

    Cheers,

    Yep, using Home Premium edition.
I see from the link you provided that i should be running MP12 though.
Don't know what is going on there...

I thought Windows 7 Home Premium came with WMP 12 automatically installed. I know mine did.

    It does, which is weird.

Chirodoody, did you buy your computer used? Anyway, you can download Windows Media Player 12 here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...Downloads.aspx

Let me know if that helps....

The computer was new & came with Vista pre-installed.
I then got the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade and installed at home.
I'll follow the instructions you have given and see if that works.

    I tried both the downloads:

    Windows6.1-KB968211-x64.msu

    Windows6.1-KB968211-x86.msu

When attempting installation I get message "This download does not apply to your computer".

That's really weird... it's like your computer doesn't know what version it is...

Can you please go to 'System Information' in the Start menu search bar, and fill out your System Spec in SevenForums with everything you see?

I think it's Windows 7, version 6.1. Would that be correct?

    Suggestions?
