Video Thumbnails Hello Forum,
My system is currently not showing video files as thumbnail images in any folder(s), just the default AVI, WMV, MPEG icons. Picture files such as JPEG, GIF, display the thumbnail image of the given picture just fine.
Has anyone expierienced this quirk, does anyone know how to get the thumbnail image(s) back for video files?
Thanks in advance!

you did reboot?
if that didn't work, try Restore Default Windows 7 File Extension Type Associations
download, unzip and run the avi link, reboot, and see if that worked. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |

Video Thumbnails ...yes Mickey, I did reboot, but with no results.
I also tryed to Restore Default Windows 7 File Extension Type Associations for AVI, MPEG, & WMV associations as recommended, but this also did not help.
Once again I appreciate your help w/ this problem, but unless there is any other cures, I may just go back to my last restore point.
Thanks Again! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit |

Have you tried deleting the thumbnail cache to force explorer to redo them?
Also, if you have these video in the "My Videos" folder or any other folder included in the library, letting WMP create the thumbs might help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k (4.5Ghz) Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 2x4GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks (@1866) Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SuperClocked (1280MB) Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T (SE White) Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives [OS SSD]Intel 320 (80GB) -- Intel X25-V (40GB) --WD Black (1TB)x2 -- WD Blue (640GB) Other Info LG BD/DVD |

Video Thumbnails Once again I thank all of you for your help / support,
Imperfect1, I have run through the scenarios that you suggested, but with no success.
Wishmaster, I have not tried 'deleting the thumbnail cache' at this point, nor am I familiar with this process. Would you please explain this process?
Thanks Again to All! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit |

Thanks Again to All! Click your StartOrb
And in the search box just type: Disk
The first result should be Disk Cleanup.
Select that, and run it.
When you are given the option for what to cleanup, make sure Thumbnails are check. In fact, I would just check everything.
Then run it.
After its done, open your video folder and see if it will make thumbs.
This may not help. But, I only suggest it because I have had times where thumbs were just a black box. And this fixed it for me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k (4.5Ghz) Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 2x4GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks (@1866) Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SuperClocked (1280MB) Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T (SE White) Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives [OS SSD]Intel 320 (80GB) -- Intel X25-V (40GB) --WD Black (1TB)x2 -- WD Blue (640GB) Other Info LG BD/DVD |

Video Thumbnails Wishmaster,
Followed your 'Disk Cleanup' proceedure, and again, no change. I guess I can't understand why JPEG / GIF thumbnails look fine, and just the video WMV, AVI, etc. thumbnails are affected. Looking at the properties of these thumbnails / files, Windows Media Player is the defalt viewing program....
