Can you try playing it with this for me?
VideoLAN - VLC media player, Open Source video framework for every OS!

Just to determine if it's the system or the player responsible.

To be able to use the Windows players for playback, you would need to install the Shark007 Win7codecs.

Yes, the beauty of vlc is it doesn't lean on codecs, makes it a great tool sometimes for troubleshooting, it even allows some tweaks many media players dropped for some reason. Shark007 is correct in suggesting you need codecs for media player to handle the files properly though.

You can hit the vlc forum for performance tweaks, sounds like your system is just choking on them. What's the filesize/length of these videos?

uninstall both of these codecs and install ONLY the Shark007 Win7codecs.
After installation you can use Windows Media Player to playback your files.

There is a Settings Application installed with the codecs.
Open it using a right-click on the startmenu shortcut and select 'Run as Administrator'
At the bottom of the application is a checkbox for SUGGESTED settings, give that a try.
