    Using DCR-HC52 Sony Handycam As Webcam


    i have a Sony Handycam and my webcam crapped out on me
    i was told if i found a current driver i was able to use it with programs like skype and whatnot...
    well when i hooked it up via firewire
    the camera was not recognized in skype but my computer did recognize it as a video camera to import the footage
    using windows 7
    and the newest skype

    Can you also connect the camcorder via USB. If so that might be the way to go. I think you will need additional software to do this but here are many available. One is here:

    There is a trial version available. I can't find an open source bit of software!

    that won't work
    my camera only has firewire....
