Windows Media Player 12 Problem

I try to rip a CD to my computer, but it shows this message:

Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD.

Then when I click on web help, it shows this:

Windows Media Player error

You've encountered an error message while using Windows Media Player. Additional information is not currently available for this error.

A common reason why files don't play is that you might have the wrong codec on your computer. For more information about codecs, see Codecs: frequently asked questions.

Microsoft Answers

You can post questions about Windows Media Player errors in the Microsoft Answers Forums. Experts are on hand to help.

Now, I have no idea what this means, does anybody know what this means??

Am I missing codecs?? If so, how can I get them back?? I do remember deleting the Media Player file, when I type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in my start menu search box. Only because someone told me to, after I renamed it, because a new one was created, so someone told me to delete the old one, now I'm having this problem and so many more with Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7. Can somebody please help me!!

God Bless

While I, myself don't appreciate Stalker's act of shoving alternatives to your face instead of offering actual help, I do agree with the fact that ripping CDs using Windows Media Player is a bad idea. The options are limited, ripping formats as basic as they get, not to mention that the file naming scheme is as bad as in iTunes.

Still, I am curious about your last paragraph:

What exactly happened here? I cannot imagine any scenario where you'd have to delete "an old file because a new one was created"...

This fixed it for me:

Switch to Library view.
Click on <Organize>
Go to <Manage Libraries> and select <Music>
Make sure you've added a Library location inside the box.
If you don't have a library inside the box, Windows Media Player doesn't know where to put the music you're ripping. Click on <Add> and choose the location where you want your music to Rip to. Finish by clicking on <Include folder> and then <OK>.

Does anybody know what to do when clicking on "Organize > Manage Libraries > Music" does not do a single thing? I've already gone to C:\Users\KLaw\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries to make sure that there are no network locations that no longer used or external hdd's, etc but still this does not do anything. I've search all over the Internet trying to find a solution but all solutions I've found assume that clicking on the manage libraries works.

I had deleted the namespaces for libraries in regedit
HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}
and
HLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}
When i put the namespaces back, it worked.

Thanks for the response. I looked at my registry and I don't have those specific folders under Namespace. Weird.
