    renaming lots of music files

    hello,

first of all, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

i'd like to change lots of music files their names, because when i rip them of cd they have a number in front (like 01, 02 ect.) i dont want that.

is there a fast way to do this other than "f2 -> home -> delete -> enter" over and over again.

i hope to hear a way how to soon :)

    DD

    EDIT:

tagscanner worked like magic, a really great program :) thanks again. i dont know how to make this thread solved so if anyone would do that, that'd be awesome

    Hi,

This might not be exactly what you're after but...

You can change the way WMP rips music to the point of customising how the filename works. If you open WMP and click Organize > Options then the Rip Music tab. Click File Name and deselect Track Number and it'll only import the song title.

If you have the available time you could re-rip your CD's using the above settings. In the meantime hopefully someone may be able to get a batch file together to rename what you've already ripped.

Two solutions for you, depending on what you want to rename the mp3s to.

1 - best option, try Tagscanner. This will rename your files to anything you tell it to. Track title. Artist - Track title. Track number track title... the possibilities are almost endless. Has the added advantage of online database (cddb.org, gracenote etc) for one click multiple renaming.

2 - try File Menu Tools. This is a right click utility that has an advanced renaming function. change, insert, delete, change values.... very useful.

    hey,

is there a good mp4 converter (to mp3)? The one i use does max. 3 minutes and deletes the rest of the song.

The one i use is just called "mp4 to mp3 converter"

Figured it would fit here as its about the same songs, some of them.
