Windows Media Player want add files.

Somehow i lost all my mp3's in media player 12 win 7. I have tried stopping the service then restarting. I have tried rebuilding the media library. I have copied database from new user account and wmp just makes a 951 kb one under that. I have move my mp3s to a different hard drive and that didn't work when I point to that directory.

I did and upgrade install and tried a restore point. I run a command to show the directory of the database files and others for wmp and deleted them and restarted the service.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try rebuilding your search index with the new place where you moved your MP3s to included.

Indexed a lot of files but still wont add to media player. It will add files from a networked pc, however. Also My media center doesn't show any music category or files.

Yipee!! I ran the windows 7 club utility to reset all dll's. Then I went back and stopped the wmpnetwrksvc service. Navigated to C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local add deleted all files.

Then restarted the service and opened WMP and it rebuilt the library. I had tried this before but I think the Fix WMP from: Windows 7 Tips, Downloads, Security, News, Phones, Office, Live. utility made the difference. Before this I also deleted the library entry for music and added it back.

I read this here on a past thread.
