    Windows Photo Viewer/PhotoViewer

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit:
I tried to open a jpg file and received an error message that there was a problem starting. "The system cannot find message text for message number 0x%1 in the message file for %2."

The folder and files do not exist. I do not have the windows disk to run scannow as there is only a recovery partition (I backed it up) on the computer.

Is there any way to download that particular part/folder and its contents anywhere. My search yielded nothing nor the Windows website.

You don't need the disk to run sfc/ scannow.
Here is the tutorial. Use Option Two.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If it finds problems but says it "cannot repair all" leave Cmd window open and type it in again and run up to 3 times.
Sometimes it takes more than one pass to repair files.

Thanx, It appears to have restored the files. Many other items also, so I'll rerun it again tomorrow
