Windows 7 easy transfer of music -Help

I just bought a new HP computer with windows 7. I also just bought a Belkin easy transfer cable. I am trying to transfer the collection of songs I have on my old computer that is running windows vista to my new computer, using the new easy transfer cable. I followed all the directions that came with the cable. The transfer completed and I opened my media player and found that only about half the songs transferred. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to these things. How can I get the rest of my music on to my new computer? Thank you so much for your help.

If you can't get the Easy Transfer Cable to work, an Ethernet Crossover Cable might do the job.

Failing that, you could connect an external hard drive to the old computer and transfer your music collection to it, and then reconnect the drive to your new computer and transfer the music collection to your new computer.

I tried everything over again but yet I could not get all my songs to transfer. Why won't all the songs transfer, only some of them will? I did everything that you all suggested and yet only the same songs were transferred. There were a few that duplicated.
