Capture to PC while video recording on camera

I regularly video sports events with my Canon Legria HFS10 and download the results to my Dell Inspiron 1545 which has W7 home edition 64 bit. Problem is that I'm limited to 3 hours full HD capture on camera and usually the event goes on longer than that without breaks. Is there a way I can capture from camera to PC while still recording the event, because there is no pause long enough to do a download during the event? The cam has a component out and HDMI out. Full HD quality is important.

Your only hope would be if the reason you can only record three hours, is because that's all the room you have on the cameras' drive. I'm guessing though that the three hour limit is hard coded into the cameras video encoding. The least painful way to solve this issue would be to buy another camera and start recording with it from the same source before the first one hits the limit. Then splice the two movies after.

Thanks Rxx, I'm thinking along thosw lines. You're right that the 32GB limit is an internal, and that a 2nd cam will be the smoothest answer - quick changeover - and doesn't involve having my laptop on the scene. This particular camera also takes an SD card, but the 32 GB card I have appears to be too slow to record on full HD. Maybe one of these faster new generation cards will work on full HD. Just trying to think of cheaper alternatives.

Yeah, I would only do the second camera as a lest resort. They do indeed sell 64GB ultra SD cards. I hear those are faster.
