    save it as a .png
then load it into MSPaint and "Save as.." a .jpg..

    - well, that's one way to do it..:)

PS: you can adjust the picture in paint, as well - before you Save as..

    A " round about ".....
Save the png to a folder > go to that folder, right click at the png > Open With > choose Paint, or if you have a 3rd party editor such as SnagIt > Save As > Save as type > select jpg.

Even easier - just change the filetype with a Rename.

    Not the same.

By using Rename option, it does not change the file size. The "renamed" jpg remains the same file size as its png counterpart.

By really converting png to jpg, the files size is reduced to at least 1/4 of the png size.

True, and so is the quality of the picture. Make the test.

The OP asks for saving a snapshot in jpg file type. Not to disguise it as such.

Side by side comparison between a png and jpg of the same picture.

I don't see any quality difference.

    How to save as .jpg-png-vs-jpg.png
