    Troubles with Windows Photo Viewer

I have numerous photos accidentally wiped from my HDD and then recovered to my external HDD. When I used the viewer the other day it worked seemingly well, but now I do not seem able to use the viewer, getting the message that either the file format is not supported or that the version installed is not up to date.

As advised elsewhere, I have done a sfc /scannow scan, which unfortunately reveals errors.

A limk to the CBS log is below in case it is of use: I am unable to analyse or interpret it.

Can anyone guide me how to get the viewer in to working condition? Please.

Have in any way edited these disappearing files.

Mcafee has been a bad security suite,
Windows 7 Library folders are not being displayed

No, not edited since recovery, and the files are still there in the folders I allocated them. They are pre-viewable with other s/ware.

How did you recovered the files ?

Let IrfanView a chance , if it can view your images . Otherwise, there is a fair chance that the data are not recovered properly .

Please inform what irfanview says .

EDIT : If you think it is possible, you may upload a few of those images ,so that we can judge the actual condition of the images .
