Enlarging Thumbnails There are a number of thumbnails that I downloaded for the purpose of displaying in both Movie Collector and XMBC for visual ID of movies. Most of these work fine, but too many become so blurry when enlarged, that they become useless. I think that this is because the source image is so small that they just won't enlarge properly.
I do know how to enlarge graphics in a number of programs designed for the task, but as far as I'm aware of, that would be subject to the same limitations that are found when enlarged by the two programs mentioned. Is there any way possible to retain the same detail in an enlargement, as it started out with?
I have tried to find bigger images to work with, but when dealing with really old movies, one must take what one finds, and I had to look pretty hard for some of the images that I did find, which are not working out. | My System Specs |

i'm afraid it's impossible to add detail when enlarging - there is always going to be quality loss, as the software has to guess the colours of the newly added pixels; and, as we all know, computers are pretty dumb.
amazon and other online shops might be a good place to find better images for movie covers - or have you looked at imdb? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |

Yes, I have looked in those places, and many others. Like I said, most of the time I find something suitable, but there are cases when that is not so. When you go back to some of the really old movies, which were never released on DVD, the pickings can get very scanty. The only alternative that I can think of, is to make my own thumbnails, but with my very limited talent in that direction, I don't find the thought very appealing. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter
