Need sugestions for Home DVD to WMV

My band played a show not to long ago and one of the wives recorded it with a Sony handicam that records straight to one of those mini dvd's. I need to get the video off and have it as WMV so I can edit it with Movie Maker. Any thoughts on a free way to do this?

Thanks

Geeve

The one I use for all my video conversions is Freemake Video converter. You can get it here. Freemake | Best Freeware Alternatives To Paid Video Software

Not sure if it will handle mini DVD though.

Cool, Thanks I will try it. If it can handle regular DVD it should handle this, The camera makes a regular DVD, they are just fun size (as I like to call them)
Any other thoughts just in case?

To get the video off the DVD you can use VLC ( How To Rip DVDs with VLC - How-To Geek ). I use Format Factory for filetype conversions. But I guess the other suggestions will do that too.
