So are you saying that if you rename the extension to a lower case jpg it still won't open?
rename a jpg that works to JPG and see if you get the same error.
It is possible that people sending the JPG's are sending corrupted files. | My System Specs |

It will not let me rename them. My wife can open them perfectly fine on her machine. Also seems odd that files I could open three days ago I can no longer open. The file on my computer was not corrupted now it is? I did narrow it down to the majority of the files with JPG in all caps are coming from two guys with iphones. That being said, my wife can open them I could before. A buddy mentioned something about jpg.abc, but that is not showing up and I changed the settings to show all file extensions. | My System Specs

It could be that the registry entries for that extension is/are corrupt. Try downloading the following from Default File Type Associations - Restore jpe, jpeg, jpg
Note that you will need to extract them and merge them into the registry from within an administrative account. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dwarf Dwf/11/2012 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core-i5-3570K 4-core @ 3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge) (OC 4.2GHz) Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Memory 4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (16GB) Graphics Card 2 x AMD Radeon HD7770 1GB CrossFired (OC 1100MHz/1250MHz) Sound Card Realtek High Definition on board solution (ALC 898) Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic VA1912w Widescreen (VGA) Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 (USB) Mouse Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 for Business (USB) PSU XFX Pro Series 850W Semi-Modular Case Gigabyte IF233 Cooling 1 x 120mm Front Inlet 1 x 120mm Rear Exhaust Hard Drives OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB SATA III x2 (RAID 0)

Can you open ordinary jpg files, just not the ones originating from the iPhones? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dwarf Dwf/11/2012 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core-i5-3570K 4-core @ 3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge) (OC 4.2GHz) Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Memory 4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (16GB) Graphics Card 2 x AMD Radeon HD7770 1GB CrossFired (OC 1100MHz/1250MHz) Sound Card Realtek High Definition on board solution (ALC 898) Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic VA1912w Widescreen (VGA) Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 (USB) Mouse Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 for Business (USB) PSU XFX Pro Series 850W Semi-Modular Case Gigabyte IF233 Cooling 1 x 120mm Front Inlet 1 x 120mm Rear Exhaust Hard Drives OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB SATA III x2 (RAID 0)

Not sure. I will need to look through all of my email with attachments and will get back to you. I just happened to notice the ones that had the JPG in caps that I could not open were typically from iPhones. Pretty much everyone else's came through in small case and opened right up. | My System Specs

Just found one in all caps that was not from an iphone and it opened right up. That being said, I think I have attachments that have been sent by the same iphone that are not all caps and I can open them. Older all caps ones that I opens Tuesday I can no longer open. Really has me lost. If I could get the "open with" to pop up I think I could get it fixed, but after three attempts I am not sure that is ever going to be in my cards. | My System Specs

maybe not to the OS, but I know without doubt that to a web-host, specifically tripod, it matters.
