    Windows 7 automatically imports photos

    Hi folks,
I use a USB Integral SD card reader where I can simply plug my camera SD card into the USB. The trouble is as soon as I plug it in the pictures on the SD card are automatically imported. I receive the autoplay window and click Import photos but instead of giving me a chance to change Import settings and tag the photos it automatically just imports them. I don't even have time to click on the Import settings button as it disappears as soon as the pictures are imported. On my mother's laptop when the connection is made it doesn't automatically import the photos but gives you chance do change Import settings and tag photos before pressing a button to proceed. Needless to say this is damn annoying. Is there anyway I can turn off automatic import of photos?

Perhaps by changing the auto play preference for pictures. Default Programs-->Change AutoPlay Settings-->Pictures. The drop down gives several choices. Or you can disable autoplay for everything.

    See if this helps,

Change settings for importing pictures and videos

It depends on what you use to import as well since you can change the settings in that. ("Import using Windows", "Import using Windows Live Photo Gallery" or a third party software if installed.)

I have solved it! I took about 20 random photos so I had sufficient time to click on Import Settings, I then ticked Prompt for tag on Import. Everything is fine now! Replies appreciated though!
