Wmp won't play my mkv files?

It does play mp4 files though!!

Install Shark007 codecs for Windows 7 Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs and you should be able to play mkv files.

No, don't install shark please Birdulike, my suggestion is way better, I've used shark007 several times by the way.

I use sharks007 codecs and have no issues with it whatsoever and it is really simple to use especially if you select the recommended settings.
Shark007 is also a sevenforums member and im sure he can add his input as to why you should use his codec pack over another.

Another option is of course to install something like VLC that plays all popular formats natively

VideoLAN - VLC: Official site - Free multimedia solutions for all OS!

This precludes the need for any codec packs

How do I play MP4 and SRT files together in WMP 12?
