    iPhone w/o iTunes

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB w/a non-active sim card I was given while at an AT&T store. When I turn on the phone, it asks to be connected to iTunes. My question is-
Can I & if so how do I get songs onto the phone w/o using iTunes? I did it w/an old iPod before, but forgot what I used.

Winamp can also do the job, but you need to add this plugin

If you just plan to use it as an iPod for music then MediaMonkey should work fine.

Thanks for the replies. Since I already have Winamp (v2.91 b/c it's small & works fine for me), I'm going to try that route 1st.
I do have another question & I may sound anal for this, can Winamp check to make sure I have all the song's file info (ID3 Tag) correct? I have 436 songs & most should be correct already, but I'd rather not go through them 1 by 1.

Winamp wansn't working quite right, so this mourning I installed MM v3.2.5.1306 & upon running it, I received the 1st error; clicking the X results in the 2nd error & MM closes out.

I also did ask the MM forums, but they don't let users post attached pics ... strange.

Do you have iTunes on your computer?
I seem to remember that there are some drivers on it that need to be present in your computer for Mediamonkey to be able to work. Can't swear to it 100% though.

THis is indeed a weird thing, You need Bonjour Running for Iphone items.

Why dont you want to use Itunes anyway?

Found out why it kept crashing & once I got rid of QuickTime, MM runs just fine now & I have been able to load, check & update my song IDTags.
But new problem, MM will not recognize my iPhone. I'm using the original cord that came w/the iPhone; I plug it into the comfuser, iPhone beeps then goes dark a few seconds later & on the comfuser screen get a message & choose "Sync files w/this device" but nothing happens - no choice in MM.

I went to an Apple store to ask if the iPhone was working normally (when I turn it on, Apple logo stays onscreen about 45sec. before anything happens; once on, goes to "sleep" w/in 2sec.). Guy took a look at it behind the counter, came back to me & said it needed to be activated (which he already did).

Still takes 45+/- to get to main screen, but now I have the icons & can take pictures, enter & browse contacts, etc. But MM still does not 'SEE' the iPhone. iPhone just shows as a device in Windows Explorer.

I've tried this hack for MM but no go. I just don't get why MM sees my iPod Mini but not iPhone 3G, any suggestions?
