Recovered .wmv file cannot play or open

    Hello,
I deleted a video that I recorded using my webcam. It was a .wmv file. I then downloaded a program to recover it to my computer as it was deleted in my recycle bin. I was able to recover it but now I cannot open it or play it.

I have tried programs that fix .wmv files and different recover programs and I have even tried recovering tthe file to a different drive.

    I need this video!!

Please respond with any help!! I am not very good at this stuff.

    Thanks
    Emjay

If it were deleted in the recycle bin, you would not need any program to recover it. Just open the recycle bin ... there it is.

Since you had to use a recovery program, then I presume that it was NOT in the recycle bin. It was permanently deleted. A recovery program can often get back such a file. But portions of the file may have been overwritten before recovery. If so, there is no way to fix. No way at all.

What program did you try to recover?

If you try Recuva, it can tell you whether it has been overwritten and if so by which file. Generally speaking, if indeed the file has been overwritten, there is no fix.

Still I would suggest that you try one or two more recovery software before giving up.
