I have two windows 7 x64 boxes.. antivirus turned off on both and firewalls off..
This used to work fine..
I have videos under "videos" in media player 12, which on the media pc we will call HTPC, play fine on its own media player.
Then on the remote pc, which is actually in the same network (as a test), i connect to the HTPC library in the remote pc's media player 12.. I goto videos.. click on the same video there..
I get.. windows media player encountered a problem while downloading the playlist..
In this case its an mkv file.. which plays fine on the remote pc if i run it from explorer.
Viewing the properties of the file from the "remote pc", i dont see any time stamp info.. only info is the url for it.
EDIT: it appears it may be file format related.. another file.. an mpg plays just fine.. so it seems to be an issue with mkvs?
Also.. recordedtv (wtv files ) recorded from hdhomerun (clear qam) wont play on the same network "remote pc" either. (it used to just fine)
Any thoughts here?
Thanks
