GIF in Windows Photo Viewer are not animated

Windows Photo Viewer is the built-in photo viewer in windows os. It has a big drawback: can not display animated GIF pictures! Anybody got an idea?

sadly yes, the windows photo viewer does not allow to view the animation in GIF files .,but it works when you 'open with' internet explorer

The ability to display animated GIF images was removed from Windows due to a long running intellectual rights issue with the original developers of the GIF format.

I'm not sure of the legality of the viewer mentioned above as it relies on an old version of a Windows system file

I personally use IrfanView for animated GIF viewing, a little bit overkill but it is one of the most powerfull and Free viewers out there and worth while having on a system anyway, also, the Plug-ins allow the display of all sorts of exotic formats which can be useful
