The ability to display animated GIF images was removed from Windows due to a long running intellectual rights issue with the original developers of the GIF format.
I'm not sure of the legality of the viewer mentioned above as it relies on an old version of a Windows system file
I personally use
IrfanView for animated GIF viewing, a little bit overkill but it is one of the most powerfull and Free viewers out there and worth while having on a system anyway, also, the Plug-ins allow the display of all sorts of exotic formats which can be useful
