Oh, I forgot to add one more thing. It wiped out the one album I had successfully added, by restoring the Library and stuck in BACK into the UNKNOWN folder!!! Dammit! So I can only use this ONCE? If a try a second time any previous process made will return back to the UNKNOWN folder every time I "dump" the WMP Library. What if I have say, fifteen albums I'd like to add? Here's what one person told me,

"Just go to files option in wmp and add folder and then double cli ck on computer and your drives will apear and then select e drive, that is precise what i have done and the 300GB of flac files that i own is now in wmp 12"

What? Do you follow that? I don't.

Adding FLAC files to WMP Library? Help! Please!!!!

I've spent a sum total of 15 hours or so (all of yesterday basically) trying my wits end to add FLAC files from my E drive onto the WMP 12 Library. I've installed and uninstalled three separate codecs and three different tag plugins for WMP. I can't seem to find the right combination of codec/tag reader that works. That and I'm a real noob! I'm at a loss. I need real, clear cut advice here. All my codecs played FLAC with no problem whatsoever. I've installed/uninstalled Shark007, xiph, and K-Lite. For plugins I've used Tag Plus and Tag Support Extender, etc. What works? I'm also having problems understanding how files are moved back and forth between my E drive and the WMP Library. I've had albums (I always use albums, not single tracks) appear in the UNKNOWN folder in the WMP Library but doesn't that defeat the purpose of Tag Plus, Extender, etc? And when I "dump", restore, clean, wipe my Library, any progress made is lost and returned to the UNKNOWN folder. Again! Help!!! Please! Thanks very kindly for any and all helpful advice. (Remember, I'm a complete novice here. I need step by step instruction. Thanks again!)

    Regards,
    Todd

Are the tracks in the Unknown folder all FLAC, or are they some other file type? Are there any FLAC tracks for which the tags were successfully read, i.e. that aren't in the Unknown folder?

Are you sure that WMP Tag Plus is loaded in WMP? It should be checked in the Tools - Plug-ins menu, as indicated by boohbah.

BTW, to re-add songs to the library, select them in WMP, right-click, select Delete, Delete from library only, and click OK. They can then be restored through Tools - Advanced - Restore deleted library items.

Yes it was checked. I've got suuuuch a frickin headache right now!! Really bothered by this! Second day of trial and error. God this sucks! Anyway, uninstalled your Tag Plus and am currently working with Tag Support. I can try plus again. My codec is xiph. Funny thing, I need to open WMP from the START menu in order to find TOOLS>PLUG-INS. If I select WMP from the task bar no plugins will appear. Weird. Help!!!! And yes, ALL repeat ALL flac files appear in UNKNOWN. None are found anywhere else.

in the unknown list rename the album title to the original and it should appear in the library, i have to say you are experiencing issues that made me switch to winamp, that and the fact that wmp refuses to play some of the mp3 files in the library ,it used to and suddenly stopped. they play fine in every other player i tried.
so wmp got binned,i only used it for music and i use wmc for movies ,and occasionally vlc

Ok. I uninstalled Tag Support and reinstalled Tim's Tag Plus v1.2. I'm still using the xiph.org codec which BTW, plays the flac files without any issues whatsoever. Now what?

It sounds like your WMP shortcut on the task bar launches the 64-bit version of WMP, which is incompatible with most plug-ins (including WMP Tag Plus). I suggest that you open WMP from the Start Menu, once again make sure that WMP Tag Plus is loaded, and try re-adding the FLAC files in Unknown to the library. Then their tags should get read (unless they don't contain any tags in the first place).

OK. Now I've got two albums appearing together as one album and now the tracks are listed alphabetically. (What I've got are the Beatles 1st and 2nd albums [UK versions] in mono, "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles") I also had Help! at one time but I had to delete it entirely from from my E: Drive as it was just adding to the confusion. Funny thing, Help! is what I most certainly need. (Probably shoulda kept that one, huh?) Walk me through this, please?

Cleaned out the Library by accessing WMP through the Start Menu. Reinstalled WMP Library and now BOTH albums are back in the UNKNOWN folder. Dammit! Too bad I quit drinking three years ago. Then again, I'd have passed out by now...

    How 'bout...... Organize>Manage Libraries>Music>Add???

Think I might have found something. I got MP3tag editor and I noticed, when checking the the tags that both albums had the same album title. Now, I've barely used MP3Tag, if ever, so how does one quickly change an entire column's worth of album titles back to the correct one, e.g. from "With the Beatles" to "Please Please Me". I hate having to go through each and every track typing in "Please Please Me" 14 separate times.
