I'm looking for a simple image viewer program that will let me view images on my computer at once. I would like the program to be able to let me open up multiple images in seperate windows at once and to have unobtrusive menu bars.
I've been using
ACDSee in Windows "since Hector was a pup".
There have been many enhancements over the years, and the product has gotten larger and larger (with many good features for some, I suppose, but all I wanted was a fantastic image browser that was fast and lean). Naturally, the product has also gotten much more expensive over the years... to go along with what I feel to be "bloat". They've moved into "image editing", which I already have Photoshop for. I just want an image viewer/browser that's simple and fast and displays pictures exactly the way I want to see them... as you do.
So I myself still use the "best and fastest" version 4.01 (from 2001), although I also install the slightly prettier version 5 (from 2003) on machines for family and friends.
They're now up to version 14 on the "non-pro" edition ($79) and version 5 on the "pro" side ($239). I actually invested in the Pro version 2.5 a few years back because I had bought a new digital camera and thought it would be useful, but VIRTUALLY NEVER USE IT (really still preferring the old version 4 from 2001)!!!
Naturally they no longer sell or support the older versions I have and use, but that's fine with me.
Anyway, PM me if you're interested in trying version 4 or 5. I can get it to you along with all of my setup to get you started right away. I'm sure you will appreciate its simplicity of user-interface that belies its great depth of functionality.
