I was trying to download ringtones for my phone and it gave me the error "windows media player is not working", it also says the windows photo viewer isn't working either. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

I did what you said and it still doesn't work. I then found where I was supposed to go to the device manager and make sure the sounds and videos were enabled and they were. Still doesn't work. This is the error is gave me "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file".

I had nothing but problems with WMP 12.

Do you have any other media player programs installed?
If so, do the files play in them?

"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file".
That could be anything e.g. a funny filetype, a corrupted file, etc. What is the filetype you want to play?

The file is apparently corrupted. try to convert (fix) it from mp3 to mp3 with this program. If it converts, it may work. If it does not convert, the file is no good.

I've downloaded the program, but not sure what to do with it. It says all to mp4, but nothing about 3

You have to first click on audio (bottom left), then on mp3 and then see this tutorial: Format Factory on Vimeo

That was a nice clear tutorial. I saved the file, but then when I went to browse, I couldn't find it. I opened the folder it was in, but didn't show it to me. I wonder if I just cannot download ringtones to my phone. Is there a way to test media player to see if it works under other circumstances? You don't know me, but I am a novice to all this computer stuff. Thanks.
