Windows 7 - Cannot get thumbnails for some video files. |

Cannot get thumbnails for some video files. Running Windows 7 Pro X64.
Some *.avi files show thumbnails but others show an icon.
Folder view options the same for all sub-folders in the main video folder.
"Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.
Switching that setting causes a change in some folders but not in others.
Not a train smash, just annoying.
Would welcome any tips.

IMHO it's normal behaviour. When I glance through video thumbnails on Windows 7 machines it's invariably so. Depends not solely upon the file format, but appears to be linked to resolution/compression. I'm not sure I would let it be an issue personally. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) That is the only one that shows up in my installed programs list.
Is there some way to check further? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Download K-Lite Codec Pack 8.10 (Full) - FileHippo.com
klite codec pack is a good one too.only annoying thing about it is that it adds a "media info" to the context menu. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Pentium e5200 @2.50ghz Motherboard Intel Corporation DG41wv Memory 4.0gb DDr3 Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5450 Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays DELL E170S Screen Resolution 1280x1024 pixels Mouse A4Tech Q4-500 Hard Drives 488GB WD Internet Speed 512 kbps |
