MKV files to a flash drive?

I can get a 5 gig mkv file to save to a 16 gig flash drive. It says there is not enough room. I have formatted the flash and it has 16 gig available.

What is going on? how can I get the movie to save to the flash drive?

Thanks

FAT32 formatted media have a file size limit of 4GB irrespective of the free space.
NTFS does not have this limit but some media devices may require FAT32.

Is it because the flash drive is formatted in fat32? Do I need to format it differently?

Earth to anyone with an answer.

Because the first post has been edited since I wrote that.

Initially the first post said, "Can I?" Hence my response.

I thought I gave you an answer? What don't you understand?

By media devices I mean things like Blu Ray players which will read FAT32 USB devices. Some of these won't read NTFS.
Maybe if you also give some information on what you want to achieve it would help.

Answer is YES you have to format it to NTFS. I think that was obvious from what mjf said.
