Hi and welcome to seven forums

I suspect the permissions have been changed. Only way I can begin to know is if you fill in your system specs, and tell us 32bit or 64, clean install or upgrade.

edit: sorry system specs are in the lower left corner

In what program are you trying to do this? Check that the files have not been set to read only.

Right click a file, select "Properties" then "Security".. who is in the list? Is your username in the list?

Has something changed recently? did you upgrade to win 7 and it worked in vista? change users? or something else? What app are you using to play them?

Tell me about the set up

so you upgraded from something to win 7 and it worked but not now. do you have a backup to restore from? these are like mp3, mp4 files played in WMP11. do you know when it started happening? if so you can go into event viewer (type event viewer into search) and look to see what errors relating to this are in there
