    While may be going away for new releases I wouldnt worry about it for some time.

    Sure. It's dying. The only question is the rate of the decline.

    Frankly, I'm surprise it's lasted this long.

    The only thing that will save it is if the price of CDs continues to decline. I read that the average retail price of store-bought CDs is now under $10. A continued reduction in retail prices may keep CDs around a while longer.

    I have not been in a "record" store in 6 or 8 years, so I had no idea the retail price of CDs had declined. Fifteen or twenty years ago, I was in them weekly.
