Unable to change Default Program for Video Files

    Hello,

I've recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my older laptop and I would like to change the program that opens video files. The default is Media Player, and I'd like to change it to KMPlayer. When I get to the "Default Programs" windows, and choose defaults for Media Player, what I see is a list of formats, near which is a gray box that won't let me uncheck it. My guess is, that's because I don't have any other video player program, that appears on this list. Though there's also no way to add an external program other than what Windows has 'chosen'.

Can I change this setting, and avoid Media Player from opening my files, and set KMPlayer as the default player instead ?

    Thank you very much.

    Do you have KMPlayer installed?

If you do follow Step #3 here: Open With - Change Default Program
Make sure the Always use box is checked.
