Mysterious problem: mp3 files missing from My Music folder.

Hi all. This is my first message here after long time reading and learning in the forums. Thanks all! But today I'm writing because I have a problem:

Suddenly, this morning, all my individual mp3 files contained in the "My Music" folder have disappeared. What's interesting is that folders in the "My Music" folder with mp3 files inside have not disappeared. Just the individual ones outside.

Last night (12 hours ago) all the files were intact. I haven't installed anything, my computer is not infected with anything (as far as I know) and I haven't moved or deleted anything.

I've run "undelete plus" to check if some of the files could be recovered, and the most intriguing thing of it all is that is has found some of the files missing, inside a folder called "Deleted 2342323" (can't remember the exact name) in C:. That folder doesn't exist at all (and I'm running with administrator permissions).

What could have happened? Any help would be very appreciated, since I had important files there.

But really, after 16 years using windows this is the first time that such a thing happens

    thanks in advance!

Hi, are you using a original copy of Windows, because if not on pirated copies these things can happen, and they do quite regularly.

That is a good question. I bought this computer from someone else a few months ago. It came with Win7. It is an LG laptop, 3 years old, and I think that it originally came from the factory with windows vista home premium (at least is has a sticker under it with the license number). But I got no CD´s or DVD´s with it when I bought it.

I don't get any messages in windows about having a pirated copy. It updates and everything seems to be fine.

I'll try to contact the one who sold it to me to find out. That would suck.

But really, having a counterfeit copy of windows can be the source of this problem? It is some sort of "retaliation" or what?

I'll keep you informed about my findings. Thanks!
