Windows 7: Manually seeking in a large video doesn't resume right away

Manually seeking in a large video doesn't resume right away

In Windows Media Player, I'll be watching a video and then I'll manually seek somewhere within the video (the Back/Forth buttons aren't enabled) and when I stop seeking, it can take 15-30 seconds for the video to resume playing. I'd like to know if there's something I can do to have the video resume right away and/or is there a better media player that doesn't have this issue?

Thx in advance.
