I am wondering what to do about home video. I would like some streaming capabilities and storage. Should I go with some out of the box ready system or build my own on a computer and then what software should I use? Links to manufacturers that you guys like would be nice.
Are you referring to videos shot with your own camera? Or do you mean Hollywood films? What file format? What editing needs will you have? Simple cuts? Or more complex editing with fades, sound overdubs, etc? Two hours worth of video or 2000 hours?

I am not talking about that at all. Sorry for not being more clear on this. I am talking about a system that I can play movies by streaming and by connecting to TV. I am sick and tired of all my cd collection getting scratches and I plan to move it to a central system for playback and streaming over the wireless at home. I have no need for editing. I am thinking move hours are better so scalable solution would be nice.
