Windows 7: Windows Media Player 12 not responsive issues

Windows Media Player 12 not responsive issues

Flabbergasted on this one! Have a CD-R full of mp3 songs which WMP 12 won't play
on my particular system (Windows 7-64). What happens is put the cd in and the artist artwork shows and then it craps out - "wmp is not responding". The weird thing is at the same time my McAfee security center shuts off temporarily at the same time. Tried the wmp troubleshooting steps listed on this site and installed k-lite codecs and uninstalled to no avail. I can go thru explorer and pick a song and it will play but just a few - the rest are listed as (0) byte files. This cd works with other 64-bit systems - but they have Norton on them whereas I have McAfee. Regular music cd works fine no problem. Can't do a system restore - doesn't go back far enough. Looking like a "factory restore" best option. This is a Dell system by the way. Didn't mean to write a book but I'm stumped on this one! Thanks.
