Set "Date Taken" as default sort option in Pictures folder

    Hi Guys & Gals
i have a lot of photos in different folders and i want to sort them into order of date taken, i know this can be done via ..right click, sort by..more..date taken.

But this is a pain to keep doing, is there anyway i can have it so windows remembers that i want "date taken" in the right click menu or can it be set as default anywhere??

    Thanks

    Pete :)

I don't know how you can set Date Taken as a global setting, but with thousands of pictures on my hard drive I create my own folder structure thus:

Computer\Data Partition\Digital Images Backup\JPEG Images\2012\2012-05-07\ then set the default for Data Taken in each Date folder.

It saves having to scroll through thousands of images and is an easy and practical way of keeping track of things.

You may also want to consider a third-party image viewer, such as IrfanView.

Can't you set the properties of the parent folder and the photos subfolders as "Pictures", ensure sort is by "Date Taken" in the parent folder, and in the folder options, "view" tab, apply to folders of this type?

@ peter7769: Are you viewing from a Library of from a folder?

Your special folders (Doc, pics, vids, music) are the template for all folders of this type. Navigate to your Pictures folder (not the library). Set it how you want it (coliumns, column position, etc) hit the Organize button, select folder and search, hit the view tab, hit the apply to folder button, then Ok out of dialog.

    Old post, new question!

Hi! Hereīs my problem.. Can you help me?

I have a pictures folder with one folder for each client I have (Iīm a dentist).

So I have a huge folder of a lot of clients, each in itīs own sub-folder.

I want this main folder arranged alphabetically, in a list mode, to help me navigate and find the right person.

But inside each of my clientsī folder, I want it displayed in Large Icons mode (So I can see all pictures Iīve got), but ordered in picture-taken mode.

I canīt seem to make the trick. When I order the main folder to picture taken, all my subfolders (each clients folders) get ordered correctly, but go back to file-list mode, and itīs not anymore in the Icons mode.

I want the main folder ordered in list-mode alphabetically, but each of itīs subfolders ordered in date taken and icon mode...

I couldnīt do it so far...

Is there a way to create a batch that enters each sub-folder, organizes it by date taken and view in an Icon mode, without changing also the main folder?

    Thanks!
