Set "Date Taken" as default sort option in Pictures folder

Hi Guys & Gals
i have a lot of photos in different folders and i want to sort them into order of date taken, i know this can be done via ..right click, sort by..more..date taken.

But this is a pain to keep doing, is there anyway i can have it so windows remembers that i want "date taken" in the right click menu or can it be set as default anywhere??

Thanks

I don't know how you can set Date Taken as a global setting, but with thousands of pictures on my hard drive I create my own folder structure thus:

Computer\Data Partition\Digital Images Backup\JPEG Images\2012\2012-05-07\ then set the default for Data Taken in each Date folder.

It saves having to scroll through thousands of images and is an easy and practical way of keeping track of things.

You may also want to consider a third-party image viewer, such as IrfanView.

Can't you set the properties of the parent folder and the photos subfolders as "Pictures", ensure sort is by "Date Taken" in the parent folder, and in the folder options, "view" tab, apply to folders of this type?

@ peter7769: Are you viewing from a Library of from a folder?

Your special folders (Doc, pics, vids, music) are the template for all folders of this type. Navigate to your Pictures folder (not the library). Set it how you want it (coliumns, column position, etc) hit the Organize button, select folder and search, hit the view tab, hit the apply to folder button, then Ok out of dialog.
