How can preserve 6 channel audio when using Handbrake to shrink mkvs.
first of all, apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum, or if this query has already been addressed in other threads.
I have some mkv files which I'm trying to shrink using handbrake.
Up till now this has been working well for me, and I have been able to substantially reduce the size of the source file while preserving the 6 channel audio.
However, in some files I am having problems with the audio.
Although the source file has 6 channel audio, when I open it in handbrake, in the "Audio Track" dropdown in handbrake the only track option is "English (AC3) (2.0 ch)".
I know for sure that there are 6 audio channels, because when I play the original unshrunk file, my av receiver detects and plays 6 channels, and the dolby digital icon appears on the receiver display.
Previously, when I shrunk files, handbrake displayed "English (DTS) (5.1 ch)" in the "Audio Track" dropdown.
I guess this has something to do with DTS v's Dolby Digital, but I'm a novice at this, and when I try to google the problem I'm afraid that I'm overwhelmed with all the information regarding codecs etc...
Has anyone seen this specific problem before?
