WMP 12 won't play .srt subtitles

Hey all, hope I am posting in the correct section..

Using Windows 7 Home Premium x64, trying to get WMP 12 to play .srt files with my movies.

I have successfully got the VLC player to show the subs, so the .srt file itself works.

I have installed DirectVOBSub 2.41 x64 codec, tried numerous codecs and nothing works..

Tried walkthroughs on forums with no success.

    Any help?

    uninstall all codec installations
install the Win7codecs with the x64 addon

In the Settings Application(s), disable the DMO codecs on the SWAP TAB

I uninstalled the Windows 7 codec pack I was using and the DirectVOBSub codec.

Installed the shark007 Win7 codecs and the x64 components addon.

Disabled DMO codecs in the swap tab as requested.

    Still not showing subs...

Not sure what I am doing wrong..

Thanks for the reply!!!!! Any more ideas?

    I tried the previous directions...

install the Win7codecs with the x64 addon In the Settings Application(s), disable the DMO codecs on the SWAP TAB
...but still can't see .srt subtitles for an .avi file.

    Please help?

Windows Media Player no subtitles .srt files

hi, i read through the q/a on this issue, downloaded the Shark codec, none of the modes suggested to use in the swap tab worked, i did check, my file is an mp4, so i did check the disable mode suggested, still nothing; however i have not rebooted the computer since adding the Shark codec program, i have restarted and tried media player several times, i will try and re boot but...really you would think that as big as Microsoft is...subtitle issue? really? unbelievable. kwm
