High Definition Problem From Windows DVD Maker...

So, I have an alienware M17x and it holds the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. Recently, I have been trying to make a DVD of my wedding photos as kind of a slideshow video with music to it. creating the video and saving it to my computer under 1080 high definition display works fine. The only problem is...when I try to burn it to a DVD, it has less pixels and horrible quality. As though the pictures had been taken with a lower quality camera (I have the Canon Powershot Elph 310 HS, which has TERRIFIC quality and can play 1080p video as well as 1080p photos), but what I do not understand...is how it records to DVD with such low quality when my photos are such high quality? Is there a way to fix the quality for the "Burn to DVD" option? I'm trying to make this DVD for my mother's birthday tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
