Does your WMP12 pause a little before playing...?

My WMP 12 pauses a little before it starts to play, however when opening the same file the 2nd time, it's much quicker, is yours the same?

My winamp pauses quite a long time before playing. Im suspecting that the two are probably related to some driver not performing well.

when i double click a mp3 it opens and i hear it right away, when i double click a video file, there is a slight pause before the video shows, but nothing real noticeable

Hmmm, same as mine....I tried playing the exact same file repeatedly with both WMP12 x86 and x64 and it seems like WMP12 x64 is a bit faster/smoother than WMP12 x86, but nothing like VLC or SMPlayer/Mplayer, which is instant!

Yea, I get this weird lag when I first open a video file (whole system lags down, even the mouse cursor), but whatever it's not messing it up too much to worry about. Maybe those leaked updates do something, but I haven't touched any of them.

It does this because it is caching in the video so you can continue from where you left off on it in case wmp closes or you stop watching before the video file is done for whatever reason. If anyone figures out how to turn this feature off, it would be nice to know since I never use it and having the whole computer lag for a second while the video starts is annoying.

EDIT: One could try filling up their temp and cach folders since windows will only hold so much before it stops saving. I haven't tried it myself though.

Or you could try adding all the files you'll ever play to the wmp library.

For some people, it doesn't do it often and for others, it does it every time. It's weird but caching in the video is the cause. I guess if you often never finish watching something, it's a useful feature.
