    mov files in wmp 12

I am running Win7 RC1 build 7100 and I cannot play mov files in wmp 12. Can anyone help? I know I can download codec packs but I thought wmp 12 was supposed to be able to play mov files.

It is supposed to play mov, as does VLC, and quiktime. VLC doesn't needs any additional codec's except for a splitter for mkv files

    Hope this helps

WMP does play .MOV files but not from Apple's Trailer site. They put some kind of check to make sure you have QuickTime there

I guess the line about not wanting to download codec packs (or any additional software) surppassed some of you.

HOW did you get it to work? Mine isn't working.

I made the mistake of buying a Panasonic Camcorder which produces MOV files. These are recognised by WMP but not recognised by Windows DVD Maker. I ave tried several freeware converters but nothing successful. The Panasonic software doesn't install on Windows 7

I guess that getting it to work surpassed you... It would be to your advantage to remember that getting what we want is dependent on what we are willing to do...

Great absolute and mighty wisdom. How you do something is just as important... at least to me. For example, answering the question being asked rather than giving the answer you want to give.
