How to get the documents disappeared in a burned DVD?

Hi,

I burned some important documents into a DVD. Since the space is 4.7G, I burned it several times separately. However, when I inserted in my laptop today, I found that all documents disappeared. It showed that only 800MB is free, but there was nothing inside the DVD now. Does anyone know how to get those documents back? Please provide details. Thanks a lot!
