Windows 7: Having problems with moving photos recently...

Having problems with moving photos recently... My mom and I are moving photos from her droid phone into folders into her computer. We highlight a group of photos, right click, and select the option "Move To". Then a window pops up where you choose your folder you want. We select "New Folder" and name it. Then we open up the new folder and send our pictures there. Then we go to the folder that was just made and find it empty, with the photos deleted from he phone. Now we can't recover them, and she's so down about it. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how can you get your pictures back? A quick reply would be great, thanks.
