Windows Photo Viewer loading.... and nothing comes up

Ok, I am trying to open ANY image with Windows Photo Viewer. When I open the image, it just shows "loading..." and nothing comes up. Now, I can open with and choose a different program, like MS paint (or any other graphics program) and can see the image just fine. Its just with Windows Photo Viewer! I did a lot of research on this. Some people were saying to do a mfc /scannow, some said updating drivers. I did everything I have read and nothing worked. Other people had the same problem, and all they did was switch to another program. I don't want to do that. Everyone else, and I mean EVERYONE ELSE who I had the problem, has the same brand name video card - ATI Radeon! No idea what to do next. I downloaded the latest drivers from the ATI website. Any ideas?

Thanks. I just tried it, and I can't even start with the first step - I do not have that directory. So I did a search for the only DLL in that zipped file, photoviewer.dll, and that's not anywhere on my computer other than the downloaded file. So that directory and file do not exist. Is there an actual Windows 7 photo viewer FULL install instead of the DLL?

    Thanks

    Hello CheewyAlf,

If you like, as a test, download and merge the .reg file for the listed JPG option in the tutorial below. This will restore the default associations for .jpg files. Afterwards, see if you may be able to double click on a .jpg file and have it open with Windows Photo Viewer.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps, :)

    Shawn,
Its absolutely not an association problem. I even "de-associated" by assigning another program to open them, and then "re-assigned" it back to Windows Photo Viewer. Its definitely an ATI problem since other people have the same ATI card. Tried it anyway, and still same problem. Double clicking just comes up with "loading...." and that's it. Argh!!
