how to turn off back ground music

I seem to have some back ground music playing but dont know how to turn it off. It may be linked to the desk top background that changes picture.

How do I turn it off? i have looked at control panel but nothing there seemed to be the right choice

    thanks

Right click task bar > Star task manager > Applications Tab > click on whatever is running > End Task

    Also,
if you right click the volume speaker on the taskbar and select "open volume mixer" it may show some programs that are using the soundcard.
see if that gives you a clue to what is using it. also. do you use a software to change your wallpapers or is it windows default software as that doesnt have music linked to it. although some third party softwares do.

i think anthony's method would be easier though.

Your system may be infected with what's known as the "Whistler" virus or one of it's variants. I suggest you scan for viruses, malware and rootkits.
