Windows Live Movie Maker not recognizing external webcam

I have a video I wanted to put together in Windows live movie maker of my customized Windows 7 startup for Youtube using my Logitech HD webcam C310 by using a friend's laptop as long as I don't install the software that came with the Logitech webcam so for the time being I've been trying my external webcam on my laptop to see if I can get the webcam to work in Windows live movie maker but so far only my laptop's built-in webcam is recognized and I didn't see any options to switch webcams. Is there a way to get my Logitech webcam to work in Windows live movie maker without installing the software that came with it or extra software? I don't have a camcorder so if there is no way around installing the software Logitech provided with the webcam then I have to use my phone which is a last resort due to the sharp drop in quality the video will have.
