pictures are read only

I have two files I imported from my former computer and every .jpg & .png pictures are read only and therefore when I make changes and try to save them I am not allowed. I am using Windows 7 and have tried to change the properties but to no avail. Please help with suggestions since I am a novice at all this.

Locked Files

Since those files came from another computer, they maybe "locked". Right click on one of the files and select properties. If they are "locked" the properties dialog will give you an opportunity to unlock them. This would be my first attempt at them.

Another Ploy

After more thought, what I was suggesting applies to executable files, I think. With the properties window open select the security tab and look at the "group and user names". If your acccount is not there add it and grant full use. If that doesn't work, try adding "everyone" and granting full control. If you had a lot of files you could focus on the directory and change the directory permissions which would get all the files under it.
