Converting videos is taking to long?

I been converting 30 videos with freemake video converter its been 9 hours and its only on 30 percent
I’m running an i7 2700k 16GB of ram I set the priority to high but I didn’t see no improvements I’m only using 30 percent CPU and 5 GB of memory .
How can I speed this up I obviously have enough power but is not being used.

    Thank you for your time

I use Freemake regularly to convert mp4 and avi to wmv.

I just checked and got this result: An mp4 of 540 MB in size and 35 minutes in length takes 18 minutes to convert to WMV.

That equates to about .9 GB per hour for this particular mp4---it's 960 x 544.

I have an i-5 2500 with 4 MB of RAM.

You don't mention the size or file formats of what you are converting.

How do my figures compare to yours--in terms of GB per hour?

If you are converting 20 or 30 or 40 GB of material, you may just have to wait.

As far as I know, I am just using default settings.

If you mean you have a grand total of less than 1 GB to convert and it has taken 9 hours to do 30% of it, I'd assume there is something unusual about those particular video files or you have something else going on in the background.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you---particularly since you say your earlier conversions went much faster.

I would expect my PC to do that job in well under 1 hour---if there were nothing peculiar about the files in the job.
