hello all, I have an issue with aspect ratios.

My situation, i have an old game. that has a max resolution of 800 x 600. Im using my ati catalyst software's 'enable GPU scaling' option to expans the image accros the screen. I am using the sub option of 'Maintain aspect ratio', Normally with my old games this expands the image to the full height of my monitor but leaving large black bars along the left and right of the screen. i accept that. But the game i am playing (birth of the federation) s displaying in a centred box leaving black lines along all sides of the screen.

I do not believe that i have selected centered timings and my scalling options are set to maximum overscan (makes screen bigger) so i cannot increase the size to fit. I have ITC processing on (not sure what it does). I am running a native resolution of 1920x1080 and i can confirm that i have got it to this game to full the height of my screen before.

Does anybody know what i should do?

I am sorry for any inconvenience. ;)

im not sure if its just a fluke but i did this and now it works without having to change resolution to nonnative each time to get the full height aspect ration.

To fill the aspect ratio height of this game. Giving you the best picture ;-)

1/ In the ccc set the resolution to 800x600, set 'maintain aspect ratio' and max overscan load the game.
2/ In the ccc set the resolution to 1024x768, set 'maintain aspect ratio' and max overscan load the game.
3/ In the ccc set the resolution to 1400x1050, set 'maintain aspect ratio' and max overscan load the game.
4/ In the ccc set the resolution to 1920x1080, set max overscan load the game.

i post this solution so that some may use it in the future.
