Yes, I tried rebooting.
And yes, the files do open with my specified players. It's only the icon that is the problem.

I meant removed in "Turn Windows features on or off". On other systems I've done just that and I don't have this problem, so it seems like it could be the solution (but as I said, I can't do that on this system).
Also, on files which don't have WMP as the default program (.flac or .mkv) there is no problem. With those I see the icon of the specified program.
The problem is only with file extensions which open with WMP by default.
